We all know that the Duchess of Cambridge is the queen of the blowout, but Kate proved her makeup prowess as she stepped out in London today. Never one to shy away from smudgy eyeliner, Kate went for an even sultrier smoke than usual by applying a purple-taupe shadow all the way up to the browbone. The color is what made this look so successful: it wasn't too dark (so her mother-in-law would approve) and not too light so you could tell she put in a little effort. To try this at home, use Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Shadow in Velvet Plum ($26), then finish with a bit of black pencil and mascara.
